Ausbuild, Queensland’s largest privately owned developer and home builder, is set to launch ‘Somerset’, a $200 million community development in Logan. This marks Ausbuild’s second community and first masterplan site in the region, underscoring the company’s confidence in Queensland’s fastest growing city and aims to address the ongoing demand for new housing in the state.

Located in Park Ridge, Somerset will deliver 266 new homes with house and land packages starting at $622,000. Somerset is expected to generate more than 5,000 local jobs throughout the four years of construction, spanning civil works, building, fit outs and partnerships with commercial entities.

Stage One of the project is scheduled to begin in September, focusing on the delivery of essential stormwater infrastructure that will service subsequent stages of development. Additionally, 1.76 hectares of existing bushland will be rehabilitated to enhance local wildlife habitats and provide a tranquil space for residents.

The first release occurred on August 28, 2024, offering 52 lots ranging in land size 260 sqm to 666 sqm. Aaron Delaney, Ausbuild’s Senior Development Manager, noted there has been strong interest from prospective homebuyers, both locally and interstate.

“Logan is one South East Queensland’s most sought-after growth areas and it’s no surprise that eager buyers, particularly young families and investors, are showing strong interest. The affordability and strategic location of Somerset, with its proximity to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast, make it a highly attractive opportunity.”

Matt Bell, Ausbuild Joint Managing Director, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting South East Queensland in meeting the State Government’s housing targets as outlined in the SEQ Regional Plan:

“Logan is ideally positioned to contribute to the Government’s housing goals, and we’re proud to be part of this vital effort. At Ausbuild, we don’t just build homes, we build communities and we look forward to the positive impact Somerset will have on the region.”

Somerset, Park Ridge, is thoughtfully designed for young families, complemented with a childcare centre and a brand new state primary school opening in Term One 2025, just 200 metres from the development. A new shopping centre featuring a Woolworths and cafes is also under construction at the Chambers Flat and Park Ridge Road intersection in Logan Reserve, just 700m from the new community.

Logan City Council Mayor Jon Raven welcomed the development, stating:

“Logan is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to meeting the demand for housing in Queensland. We are the youngest and fastest growing city in the state with more than 280 people moving here each week. With our population expected to nearly double in the next 20 years, it’s crucial we keep working together to ease housing pressures.”

Somerset, Park Ridge will join Ausbuild’s portfolio of communities, including The Sanctuary (Warner), Prominence (Pallara), Tranquillity (Taigum), and Montrose (Morayfield).
